EPA declares Mazda as 2013 most fuel-efficient automaker in the US

With a 27.5 mpg average across all models, Mazda has been declared the most fuel-efficient automaker in the United States by the Environmental Protection Agency.

The Mazda Experts at Don Mealey’s Sport Mazda Orlando are used to educating curious car shoppers about the economical fuel saving advantages that Mazda’s proprietary SKYACTIV technology platform offers Mazda drivers.

This is the second year in a row that Mazda has been declared the most fuel-efficient automaker in the US by the EPA which noted a half mile increase in overall fuel efficiency over the vehicles produced in 2012.

Not only is Mazda the most-fuel efficient, but they also have the lowest carbon emission rate out of all automakers for two years in a row as well.

2013 was the year Mazda unveiled two game changers to their lineup. The launch of the 2014 Mazda6 in January, which was the first Mazda completely built around SKYACTIV technology, was the beginning of something great.

In September, Mazda launched the 2014 Mazda3 which was also completely built around the SKYACTIV technology platform and based on the Kodo “soul of motion” design language that the Mazda6 was adapted from.

Next year Mazda will be introducing a newer more fuel efficient MX-5 Miata which will contribute to the annual trend of Mazda’s shrinking carbon emissions and growing fuel economy.

Virtually untouched 1990 Miata with only 27 miles hits eBay!

When the 1990 MX-5 Miata hit showroom floors, Mazda did not anticipate it had unleashed what has become one of the most iconic roadsters in the world. At Don Mealey’s Sport Mazda, an Orlando Mazda dealership in Florida, fans of the popular roadster get a chance to take the latest model, the 2013 Miata, right off the showroom floor for a test drive. But what would it be like if you could take the very first model that started the legacy?

Right now, eBay user powellmw from Arizona, is currently auctioning off a practically brand new 1990 Miata that only has 27 miles on the odometer!

With the exception of a few scuffs, a couple of minor dents, worn out tires and a missing battery, this is as close to brand new that Miata enthusiasts will find with the first year model. The seller notes that it comes with the original manuals, slightly worn soft top, attachable hard top, and an extremely clean well maintained interior that makes this a must buy for true Miata devotees.

As of this post, with four days left there are 13 bids reaching $10,051 for this practically pristine coupe. Check out the auction for yourself to watch the bidding war unfold.

2013 Mazda CX-5 is J.D. Power’s newest APEAL Award recipient

J.D. Power’s APEAL (Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout) Study has declared the 2013 Mazda CX-5 the highest rated vehicle in the Compact Crossover class in the study. The APEAL award distinguishes a vehicle as one that commands a higher transaction value, creates owner loyalty when trading in, and remains on dealer lots, like Don Mealey’s Sport Mazda, an Orlando Mazda dealer in Florida, for a shorter period of time.

The 2013 CX-5 was the first Mazda to be fully built around the SKYACTIV platform of technological improvements that Mazda engineers have been developing for nearly a decade. It was also the first to integrate the Kodo soul of motion concept style into a fully launched vehicle with its signature five point grille and rounded front that is also seen on the 2014 Mazda6 and soon to be released 2014 Mazda3.

The most current version of the CX-5 is the 2014 model which offered slight improvements on the 2013 award winning model which gets up to 35 mpg thanks to the 2.5 liter SKYACTIV-G engine. 2013 Mazda Miata is the world’s fastest…

The 2013 Mazda MX-5 Miata is the world’s fastest convertible… when it comes to covering up from the rain! The Mazda Experts at Don Mealey’s Sport Mazda, a new Mazda dealership in Orlando, Florida, has seen the rise in interest after the improvements to the power retractable hardtop were made to the 2013 Miata. Mazda’s latest video pits a stock MX-5 against heavyweight convertibles such as the Chevrolet Corvette, Lamborghini Gallardo, Porsche 911, and a few high priced top contenders in a ¼ mile drag race. The race kicks off with a blast from a high powered water hose simulating a rain storm to see how long it takes each convertible to raise and lock their power retractable roof and cross the finish line.

The 2013 MX-5 Miata had the power retractable hard top up in just 12 seconds which beat out the second place Porsche 911 Carrera by 5.1 seconds. If you were looking for another reason to consider getting Mazda’s iconic roadster convertible, fast responsive rain protection has earned a spot on the list. 2.5 liters make all the difference in the 2014 Mazda CX-5

When Mazda released the 2013 CX-5 last year, it rocked the industry with it's incredible chassis, stylish design and impressive fuel economy which redefined the crossovers. At Don Mealey's Sport Mazda, a new Mazda dealership in Orlando, Florida, it became one of the most popular cars for auto shoppers to test drive. In January, Mazda updated the popular crossover by making a few alterations including the upgrade from a 2-liter SKYACTIV gasoline engine to a 2.5-liter SKYACTIV engine.

Recently, Car and Driver had the opportunity to test out the 2.5 liter 2014 CX-5 AWD and compare their results with last year's 2.0 liter 2013 CX-5. Performance-wise, the extra half liter boosted the CX-5's horsepower by 35 resulting in a 1.6 second difference over the 2.0 liter engine's 0-to-60 time clocking in a 7.6 seconds. Car and Driver described the 2.5 liter 2014 CX-5 as “a bit of an instigator, cutting and running in traffic situations,” while the 2.0 liter “would best wait for a wider opening.”

For more information regarding the 2014 CX-5, read the Mazda Experts convenient CX-5 research page or visit SportMazdaOrlando.com and ask the Mazda Experts. Mazda MX-5 Miata: A road-tripping kind of roadster

The Mazda MX-5 Miata can largely be considered the world’s most popular roadster that has a legacy spanning over 30 years. The Mazda Experts at Don Mealey’s Sport Mazda, a new Mazda dealership in Orlando, Florida, love to see it when auto shoppers get that smile on their face that only a sporty roadster can deliver. Yahoo! Autos recently took the 2013 Mazda MX-5 Miata on a road-trip to the famous Natchez Trace Parkway that cuts through Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee for a test drive unlike any other.
Anyone that drives a Miata can tell you how easily you can grow attached to it after taking it for a cruise on twisty winding roads. According to Yahoo! Auto’s test driver, “you ditch the descriptive “it," and start using “she” or “her." It becomes less mechanical and more emotional.” If you are in the market for a sporty new car, the 2013 MX-5 Miata can spice up your driveway and make the neighbors jealous. Mazda wins the Kelley Blue Book 5-Year Cost To Own Award

Chalk up another win for Mazda as they have been named Kelley Blue Book’s 5-Year Cost To Own Award winner for a non-luxury brand. As a new Mazda dealership, Don Mealey’s Sport Mazda in Orlando, Florida commonly hears from customers that sticker price is always a concern when purchasing a new vehicle, but long-term costs in fuel, maintenance and insurance greatly determine whether a car is really affordable. Kelley Blue Book examined the full line up of 2013 vehicles released over the past year across all brands and has officially recognized Mazda as the greatest in long-term vehicle value. Thanks to a low depreciating value, fuel costs, and costs for maintenance and repairs, KBB recognized that models such as the 2013 Mazda3 and CX-5 greatly increased Mazda’s rank to the top of the list compared to last year.

Not only did Mazda win for overall brand, but the 2013 Mazda5 won for the lowest 5-year cost in the minivan/van category. Mazda’s commitment to making affordable, efficient and fun to drive vehicles paints a picture of the future ahead full of more awards to solidify the Mazda brand a must-own. The 2013 Mazda CX-5 Is Japan’s Car of the Year!

For the second time in 10 years, Mazda has earned itself the title of Japan’s Car of the Year with their newly revamped 2013 Mazda CX-5. As a new Mazda dealership in Central Florida, Don Mealey’s Sport Mazda has heard first-hand from auto shoppers the lasting impression a spin behind the wheel of the 2013 Mazda CX-5 makes on potential customers. Voted on by 60 local automotive experts and journalists, the CX-5 claimed the title over other popular Japanese autos like the Toyota GT 86/Subaru BRZ which came in second place 45 votes under the CX-5.

This is the first win for Mazda since the 2005 MX-5 Miata and the fourth since the awards first began. Judges chose the CX-5 over other autos due to the Skyactiv technology that the popular crossover has come to embody, as well as the great handling and clean economical diesel engine which, at the moment, is only available in Japan. Kiyoshis Fujiwara, the man behind Skyactiv, accepted the award saying, “Spurred on by this honor, we will continue to dedicate ourselves to the task of crafting cars that only Mazda can, in order to continue winning the support of our fans and customers into the future.”

Engineered For Safety: Skyactiv Gets The Grade

The 2013 Mazda Skyactiv CX-5 is the epitome of safety for the future of Mazda vehicles. Traditional unibody vehicles focus on displacing crash energy primarily through the floor pan. The 2013 Skyactiv CX-5 was designed using the Skyactiv-Body which, as blogged about earlier, is engineered to handle the energy from a collision. Energy gets distributed through the floor, door beams, and over the roof reducing the physical jolt in the passenger compartment giving it an edge in safety over other similarly classed competitors.

Mazda engineers started by taking the top federal and independent crash-test criteria and took a reverse engineering approach to achieve their desired results. Not only will the rigidity and structure of the body will keep you safe in the event of a dramatic collision, but it also increases the Skyactic CX-5’s handling, ride quality, and interior quietness. With these safety and performance features, it’s easy to see why the 2013 Mazda Skyactiv CX-5 is a must own!
