The results are in for the first full comparison of the
small crossover segment and Car and Driver named the 2016 Mazda CX-3 the “hands-down”
winner. The CX-3 was first in 12 of the
22 rating categories, including the “Fun to Drive” and the all-important “best
fuel economy” categories.
The Mazda CX-3 was meticulously compared to the Chevy Trax
LT, Honda HR-V EX-L, Fiat 500 X Easy, and the Jeep Renegade Latitude. And, Car and Driver said that the CX-3 had
it where it counts, not in the subjective opinions of testers, but the CX-3 was
the car with the highest performance in almost every measured instrument
test.
While this comparison did not cover safety as a category, the
writers at Torque News felt it was very important to note that the CX-3 has
advanced forward collision prevention available. That makes it eligible for the IIHS, top safety
ranking, the Top Safety Pick Plus. They
also noted that Honda has chosen to not compete in the safety race and will not
offer any form of forward collision prevention.
We would like to note that the IIHS just announced that the
Mazda6 and Mazda CX-5 are two of only four non-luxury models awarded this
distinction as Top Safety Rated in Forward Collision Prevention. See the blog here.

Car and Driver Comparison Testing” will appear in the September edition.
