After its debut being the first diesel to compete at Daytona
and a first ever diesel victory in the Grand Am class at Road Atlanta, the 2014Mazda6 equipped with the Skyactiv-D engine scored another important milestone
victory by becoming the first ever diesel racer to score a victory at the
Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Anticipating a retail launch in the fourth quarter
of 2013, Don Mealey’s Sport Mazda, a new Mazda dealership in Orlando, Florida,
has begun to see the demand with a flood of inquiries every month wanting to
know when exactly the diesel 6 will be available. Mazda has a real winner in
the diesel powered Mazda6.
The 2014 Mazda6 Skyactiv-D was the first diesel powered race
car to make the paces at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 60 years. According
to Mazda, its race modified diesel Mazda6 has an engine that is 51 percent
similar to the stock engine and an overall weight that is 63 percent of the
stock weight which means the racing platform version of the 6 is closer to a
stock version than most major car maker’s racers. With five victories under its
hood, there is no doubt that Mazda has the diesel game figured out.
